Full "Muppet Show: Season Two" Details!

Mark your calendars Muppet-fans!

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has finally released all the details on the highly-anticipated and long-awaited release of "The Muppet Show: Season Two" on DVD. The four-disc "special edition" set will include all 24 episodes from the second season of "The Muppet Show" along with a nice collection of bonus features and extras. The fully-loaded DVD box set of the complete second season is planned to hit store shelves on August 7, 2007...that's less than 95 days away!

Below is the list of the DVD features (as given to me by Disney) which include the other Muppet Show pilot, all new Muppet interviews and Weezer's "Muppet Show" music video. Disney has also released new cover art for the DVD (which is different from the preliminary cover shown in the DVD trailer found on the Dinosaurs DVD set and that reported about earlier; but they do say this art is also "subject to change" as well). I've also been told that there will be collectible packaging (similar to the fuzzy boxes released for the season one set).

Well, hopefully you are all planning to rush out and set up camp infront of your local DVD retailer so you can be the first in line to get the set when it comes out on August 7th. I will keep you posted with any more details on the release as I get them.

Of course I would have been much happier if it was coming sooner than that, but it's nice to finally have a date. That'll be fun to have another muppet marathon with my kids!

Do you know if this is a global date? Will it be released here in the UK on the same day?
The first series was packaged and entitled slightly differently over here, so I guess the second one will be too - I hope that doesn't mean we'll have to wait longer...

This is GREAT! Finally! A date! I'm looking forward to pre-ordering it on Amazon.com. Hopefully Season 3 will follow shortly behind. I hope at least one of the 5 seasons has retrospective interviews with the muppeteers and more behind the scene stuff.

There appears to be 6 episodes missing. 30 episodes orginally aired in season 2. The ones that appear to be missing are Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, Lep Sayers, Jean Stapleton, Gilda Radner, and Pearl Baily. Any thoughts on why this is so?

I think you got your information wires crossed there Reginald. Those episode were all part of season 3. In some markets the gap between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3 was very short. But production wise those 6 you listed were made in season 3. Each season was the same size - 24 episodes.

Actually Rizzo was on The Muppet Show, he appeared in the fourth and fifth seasons (his first episode was 418) and he had several staring and major roles in the fifth season.
