The Muppets Take on Robin Hood in April
Ever since it was first reported that BOOM! Studios was going to be producing original comics featuring the Muppets, fans have been wondering what kind of Muppetational adventures they can expect to see. As previously announced, the initial mini-series, a four-issue arch based on "The Muppet Show", will make it's debut in March -- "The Muppet Show #1" will hit comic book stores on March 25th, "The Muppet Show #2" will follow on April 29th, and issues #3 and #4 will follow shortly after. However Muppet fans won't have to wait long for even more Muppet fun to come to their local comic book store, because the Muppets' second mini-series, "Muppet Robin Hood", is planning to launch in April -- hitting stores on April 29, 2009.
The new four-part comic mini-series gives an irreverent retelling of the classic tale of "Robin Hood" featuring the one and only Muppets. The series is being written by Tim Beedle, with artwork being helmed by Armand Villavert Jr. In the comic, Robin Hood (Kermit the Frog) joins up with the Merry Men, Sherwood Forest's infamous gang of misfit outlaws, to take on the stuffy Sheriff of Muppetham (Sam the Eagle) and the wicked Gonzo of Gisbourne (The Great Gonzo). The four issue mini-series will feature special collectible covers by David Peterson and Shelli Paroline.
"Muppet Robin Hood #1" is planned for release on April 29, 2009 (the same day as "The Muppet Show #2"), with subsequent issues to follow thereafter. I will be sure to keep you updated with more information on this upcoming comic book series as more details become available.

Ooh, I thought that cover looked very 'Mousegauard' - cool to hear it's Peterson. The second cover is even better - saw it the latest Previews - lovely stuff! Hope two issues a month (with four covers) isn't overkill for muppet fans' wallets though!
This sounds and looks like a lot of fun. I'm guessing that's Sweetums as Little John. Good stuff.
At 2.99 each I might just get all the collectible covers. This is encouraging.
I'm glad the Muppet Show comics will accompany these Muppet cast members playing other iconic figures in side projects. It creates a good balance.
hah! sam the eagle is the VILLAIN!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?! can't begin to tell you how awesomely funny that concept is!
