The Muppets Unleash More Viral Videos onto the Web

Last month, the Muppets (via Sam Eagle) released an exclusive Independence Day video onto the world-wide-web. The patriotic "viral" video has already gained thousands of hits on YouTube, MySpace and elsewhere. Since then, the Muppets (namely the Swedish Chef, Gonzo, and Beaker) have posted other original videos for web surfers to enjoy.

The Swedish Chef and Beaker preform "Habanera", Gonzo conducts a bunch of "classical chickens" , and Beaker(s) sing "Ode to Joy". So check out these new videos and be sure to foward the links on to all of your friends!

These are getting back to the best part of the original muppet show. The odd musical numbers were always my favorites. Now we just need to see Rowlph and we will be getting closer.

As far as future movie ideas go, I REALLY hope they return back to the concept that the Muppets live in a Muppet world with Human guests, NOT a Human world with Muppet guests. I always thought that the best Muppet movies/shows were the ones that let us relax completely in the Muppet fantasy.

The Muppets are at their funniest for me when they play off of the real world in film and are in their own contained turf environment on television.

There's just something about the simplicity of these clips that goes back to the Muppet Show. I love that. And even though I enjoyed Muppet Treasure Island and Muppet Christmas Carol it seemed too claustrophobic and sound staged for the broad cinematic experience.

I'm hoping the Segel film has a balance of both. I also hope that Scooter, Rowlf and the Mayhem make it into these web bits.

I agree with the Muppet world human guests philosophy. The more muppets the better. The Muppets Christmas Carol is the best retelling of a very tired tale (and I do include Scrooged and Die Hard in those remakes!) because there are few humans in it and one of the humans - Michael Cain - is almost a muppet anyway.

There are four more... all of them short clips by Stadtler & Waldorf. Just like Sam, Gonzo, Beaker and the Swedish Chef, they have their own user pages.

Here's the user page from which you can access all four of their clips:
