"Abby in Wonderland" Comes to DVD

As previously reported, Sesame Workshop and Genius Products are planning an all-new DVD release entitled "Abby in Wonderland". Directed by Kevin Clash, this brand-new Sesame Street feature will take viewers on a magical journey as Abby Cadabby slides down the rabbit hole and into the enchanted world of Wonderland! Hitting stores on September 30, 2008, this DVD will feature the Muppets of Sesame Street in a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic story "Alice in Wonderland".

Abby follows a Red Rabbit (Elmo) down the rabbit hole in pursuit of her magical wand. On her quest, she encounters an incredible cast of characters - a bilingual flower named "Rose"-ita (Rosita), The "Counter"-pillar (The Count), The Cheshire Cookie Cat (Cookie Monster), Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Bert and Ernie), The Mad Hatter (Grover), The Mouse (Zoe), and the Grouch of Hearts (Oscar).

Abby is persistent as she pursues the elusive rabbit that. She even attends a silly "T" party presided over by a Mad Hatter who also can become a "sad" hatter or a "glad" hatter with just the change of a hat. But without the assistance of her usual fairy magic, Abby must rely on her knowledge of rhyming to defeat the Grouch of Hearts, reclaim her wand and find her way back to Sesame Street. Throughout this adventure, viewers are presented with important skills such as task persistence, reading and storytelling, relational concepts, counting and letter sounds.

Aside from the planned DVD release, the brand-new feature will also be treated to a limited theatrical run throughout the month of September via the Kidtoons family matinee series -- check the Kidtoons' theater listing and announcement to find a participating venue near you.

This magical feature-length movie is already beginning to become available for pre-ordering through many online retailers, so be sure to reserve your copy today! I will be sure to keep you updated with more information on the release of this, and other Sesame Street, home video titles as more details become available.

Okay, the Caterpillar Count sold it to me on my purchasing the DVD. I like the design deviation for Elmo's rabbit. We'll see if Abby can carry a movie. Wonder where Big Bird is? Hope that's some sort of surprise. I was also expecting the Two Headed Monster to be Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. I suppose there are too many speaking lines that would have made it difficult and I love Ernie and Bert! The role of Oscar is inspired!

wonder if Jerry is still voicing the count. Do you think Steve came in to do Ernie? is there a cast list anywhere?
