2008 Muppet Fan Art Calendar Winners!

In the final months of 2007, The Muppet Newsflash ran their first ever contest. We called upon the community of fans to submit original artwork inspired by the work and magic of Jim Henson. We wanted to showcase the talents of Muppet fans around the world by creating the first ever Muppet Fan Art Calendar for 2008.

We received submissions from more than 30 artists and graphic makers and the final images were selected by a panel of judges, with the top twelve pieces of artwork being featured in the calendar.

We would like to congratulate the winning artists and would like to thank all of the talented artists who participated in this exciting debut fan art calendar.

Why are you profiting from fan art?

Since you can't seem to buy it anyways, I don't believe anyone is profiting.

It was clear that the proceeds covered the printing and shipping. It's a project that brought fans together and it worked. I have found myself connecting with people of all sorts.

I wouldn't have entered my Jim & Friend if I believed this wasn't on the level. The thing is, many of us have known of one another for years from Muppet forums and events.

All this was explained in the contest announcement. I guess nobody reads anymore. Some people choose to think the worst thing first. That's why I admire Jim Henson. He believed in the good of people. I try hard to hold on to that idea everyday.

I'm glad all the beautiful pieces can be shared by Muppet fans everywhere and hope this marks an annual tradition! And may a new year bring out the best in all of us!

Does anyone know why it is no longer for sale? I would really like to get one.
