Carroll Spinney (and Sesame Street) Honored
Carroll Spinney (Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch) received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" during the 33rd annual Emmy Awards tonight. Spinney was chosen for the honor due to his work entertaining and educating children on Sesame Street since 1969. Caroll has performed on more than 4,000 episodes, as well as countless television specials, films, guest spots, and live performances. His work on Sesame Street has garnered him four Emmy Awards. Spinney was given a special presentation of the award during the 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony broadcast tonight (8:00-11:00 PM, ET) on ABC.
Sesame Street also won 7 Emmy Awards during the ceremony as well - ranging from "best costume designs" to "best multi-camera editing". Kevin Clash (Elmo) won "Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series" for the 7th time. Congratulations to Carroll, Kevin and the rest of the Sesame Street team!
